Somalia Arrests Five Over Brawl on Turkish Airlines Flight – Police

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s security forces have arrested five men over a brawl on Turkish Airlines flight, a spokesman for the Somali police said on Monday.

The brawl involving several Somali nationals deported from Turkey and flight attendants broke out on Turkish Airlines flight originating from Istanbul shortly before landing at Adan Adde International Airport, the spokesan told a press conference in Mogadishu.

A flight attendant sustaining injuries was admitted to a hospital to receive medical treatment and five Somali nationals were detained on landing, he added.

The melee erupted after Somali nationals, who were deported from Turkey following the expiration of their visas, assaulted some of the flight attendants. They are now held at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Mogadishu, according to police.
