MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s security forces detained Channel 4 Africa correspondent Jamal Osman and deported him to the UK, months after his award-winning documentary on Al-Shabaab angered authorities.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Jamal said he was denied permission to enter the Somali capital and was then deported from his homeland, adding that the move was a threat to “very existence of Somaliness.”
The journalist produced an award-winning documentary on Al-Shabaab in June, which was aired by UK-based Channel 4 TV, sparking the ire of Somali authorities.
