Somalia, Kenya presidents hold first talks ‘on bilateral issues’

Somalia, Kenya presidents

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met Kenyan leader William Ruto in Nairobi for talks on key bilateral issues, his office said on Wednesday.

“The two leaders held discussions on various bilateral issues of mutual benefit, including trade and security cooperation between our two neighborly nations,” Somali president’s office tweeted.

It is the first meeting between the two leaders since Ruto was elected this month. It came weeks after Somalia and Kenya agreed to reset diplomatic relations, a move that has paved the way for the resumption of Kenyan khat exports to Somalia and Kenya Airways flights to Mogadishu.
