Somalia tightens presidential palace security after terror alert

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – In response to a recent UN terror alert, security around Somalia’s presidential palace in Mogadishu has been significantly strengthened, Caasimada Online news website reported on Thursday.

The alert warned of potential militant attacks targeting key locations, including the presidential compound, security checkpoints at KM4, and several prominent hotels in the capital.

Presidential guards have initiated rigorous security maneuvers, which include restricting public transportation vehicles from approaching the security perimeter of the palace.

Additionally, access to and from the presidential compound has been tightly controlled, with security forces enforcing a no-entry and no-exit policy. This precautionary measure comes as a directive from top officials, aiming to thwart any possible attacks.

The increased security measures reflect heightened vigilance and preparedness in light of the credible threats identified by international security agencies.
