MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – An upcoming vote for speaker and his deputies will not be held at parliament hall, days after a mortar rounded landed on the complex, MM Somali TV reported on Sunday citing a committee leading preparations for the election.
The committee said it was considering efforts to hold the vote in a safe location in the capital Mogadishu amid growing security fears.
On Monday, mortar shells struck parliament compound shortly after a debate on measures to hold votes for its leadership had been concluded, leaving several people including staff and soldiers wounded. read more
