MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s cabinet has formed a committee to pursue efforts aimed at lifting UN arms embargo on the Horn of Africa nation, Caasimada Online news website reported on Thursday.
In a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, cabinet members discussed approaches to lift an arms embargo imposed by UN Security Council on Somalia nearly three decades ago, weeks after the body extended it.
The ministers also passed a number of bills and commended military operations against Al-Shabaab militants in the central regions of Hiran and Middle Shabelle.
