MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s federal and regional leaders gathered in the town of Baidoa on Thursday discussing key issues, including national security architecture and federalization.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, his Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and the leaders of four regional states are attending the National Consultative Conference.
The President of Puntland state Saeed Deni is not participating in the meeting due to undisclosed issues amid dispute with the federal leadership.
Somali federal and regional leaders met several times since Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was re-elected last year, but disputes on a number of contentious issues have yet to be resolved.
