MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s national flag will soon fly over the capital of the breakaway northern region of Somaliland and the government of President Muse Bihi Abdi will be removed from power, Somali Interior Ahmed Moalim Fiqi has said.
Speaking at a ceremony held to raise funds for a young man with disabilities, Fiqi said authorities in Mogadishu are well-prepared to capture Hargeisa amid escalating tensions over a sea access deal between Ethiopia and the separatist region.
It comes amid increasing war of words traded by both sides, with Mogadishu accusing Hargeisa of blatant disregard for the unity of Somalia and selling off country’s sea in exchange for cheap recognition.
