MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Foreign Minister Abshir Omar Huruse on Monday announced that he had resigned to run in Puntland regional presidential election scheduled for next month.
In a statement, Huruse said he had submitted his resignation letter to the Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre to have more time for his presidential campaign.
“Today, December 18 2023, I decided to resign as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia. I believe that I served my country with dedication and excellence,” Huruse said.
“I left this post voluntarily and to have more time for the presidential campaign of the regional Somali state of Puntland,” he added.
