MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed said on Saturday that the current administration is incapable of conducting a one-person, one-vote election, citing widespread corruption as a critical concern.
“A group that disregards the law and systematically loots the nation cannot uphold a fair, one-person-one-vote electoral process,” Sharif said in a press conference held in Mogadishu.
The former leader condemned infighting among government troops in Mogadishu on Saturday, characterizing it as an effort by authorities to seize land and forcibly evict residents, including soldiers residing in the area.
