MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s military court on Tuesday warned troops against meddling in the upcoming elections, months after the Horn of Africa country’s opposition raised fear that the government of current acting president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo may use the armed forces in potential efforts to hijack the polls.

The chairman of the Somali military court Hassan Ali Nour, popularly known as Shuute, said soldiers found meddling in the polls will have their ranks stripped and will no longer serve the government.

His remarks come as the country’s presidential election looms and days after some of the regional states held Senate elections.
