Somalia’s PM, Galmudug Leader End Tiff in Clan-Driven Settlement

Somalia PM Galmudug president

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and the leader of Galmudug regional state Ahmed Qoorqoor on Sunday agreed to end their differences in a clan-driven settlement.

It came after clan leaders representing the Prime Minister’s constituency from the town of Galkayo threatened that they would no longer be under the control of Ahmed Qoorqoor’s administration, if he fails to backtrack on favoring the president in an ongoing wrangling.

In a meeting held in Mogadishu on Sunday night, the two officials reached an agreement to bring an end to their differences and Qoorqoor promised allegiance to the Prime Minister.

The regional president, a key ally of the Somali president, was accused of being biased against the Prime Minister in a mediation effort he had begun soon after a dispute between the Horn of Africa nation’s most powerful leaders came to public attention earlier this month.
