Somalia’s PM Meets with New US Ambassador After Washington Imposed Visa Curbs

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble met with new US ambassador Larry André, days after Washington said it had imposed visa curbs on Somali officials believed to be undermining elections, his office said on Saturday.

The Prime Minister discussed with the US ambassador issues, including “strengthening bilateral relations, completing the elections, security, counter-terrorism” and US help in drought relief efforts in Somalia, his office tweeted.

The United States said that its ambassador to Somalia and Roble had discussed ways to conclude inclusive, transparent and credible elections in Somalia.
