MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Ahmed Juba Al Rumaithi discussed bilateral relations during a meeting held on Monday, his office said.
“During the meeting, they focused on strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries and exploring opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships,” the office of Somali Premier said in a statement.
“Prime Minister Barre expressed his gratitude to the UAE for the diverse support to Somalia, particularly in the areas of security and economic development cooperation.”
The UAE currently supports Somalia’s government in training, equipping and paying the salaries of thousands of troops participating in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
