MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble discussed strengthening diplomatic relations with the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Mohamed Ahmed Al’uthman, his office said in a statement.
It comes years after the UAE cut its ties with Somalia following row over Mogadishu’s refusal to join Gulf Arab nations in their blockade on Qatar, a key ally and staunch supporter of the government of Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
Somali Prime Minister “today received UAE Ambassador to Somalia H.E Mohamed Ahmed Al’uthman to discuss strengthening relations between the two brotherly nations,” Somali Premier’s office said.
Both officials also discussed “how UAE can contribute to the relief efforts for the Somali people adversely affected by the drought,” it added.
