Somalia’s president arrives in Eritrea amid simmering tensions with Ethiopia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Monday arrived in Eritrea’s capital Asmara amid simmering tensions with Ethiopia over a leased land along the Red Sea it was granted by the break-away region of Somaliland.

Mohamud is set to holds talks with his Eritrean counterpart Asaias Afwerki for talks on the recent developments in the region, including Ethiopia’s move to “infringe on” the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Somalia.

It comes a day after Somalia ordered Ethiopian ambassador in Mogadishu to leave the country.
