Somalia’s president arrives in Uganda for three-day visit

KAMPALA (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Uganda on Monday for an official three-day state visit, the eighth trip he has taken abroad since his re-election in May.

Mohamud is due to hold talks with his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni to discuss key bilateral and regional issues. Uganda has thousands of peacekeepers in Somalia fighting Al-Qaeda-linked militant group Al-Shabaab.

Last year, Museveni threatened that he would pull out his peacekeepers from Somalia if authorities in the Horn of Africa nation and security forces fail to shoulder their responsibility in restoring peace in the troubled nation. read more

Somali President is scheduled to attend an investment conference that will host businesspeople from Somalia and Uganda, and officials from the two East African countries.

It is his eighth trip abroad in justice two months. He has earlier traveled to Turkey, UAE, Eritrea, Djibouti, Tanzania, Egypt, Kenya and other countries.
