MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Tuesday convened a meeting of the National Consultative Council amid tensions over changes in the constitution, weeks after the conference was delayed.
The leaders of federal member states, including Jubaland, Galmudug, Southwest and Hishabelle were present at the meeting. But the President of the northeastern semi-autonomous region of Puntland Saeed Abdullahi Deni did not participate in the conference due to an escalating dispute with the federal authorities.
“The meeting will discuss immediate national priority agendas, including further consolidating the recent gains in the fight against international terrorists and the completion of the constitutional review process,” Villa Somalia said in a statement.
