MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Thursday inspected the Turkish oil exploration vessel Oruc Reis, which has completed months-long seismic studies and oil exploration efforts off Somalia’s coast.
“H.E. President @HassanSMohamud inspected the Oruc Reis Research Vessel upon the successful completion of offshore seismic surveys off the coast of Somalia,” Villa Somalia said in a statement.
“Aboard the vessel, the President lauded the achievement as a critical step in the government’s ongoing efforts to unlock Somalia’s resource potential,” it added.
Speaking after the inspection, President Mohamud said: “This achievement reinforces our goal of enabling Somalia to fully benefit from its natural resources and transform them into economic opportunities and social development. The Government and people of Türkiye have always led initiatives that demonstrate Somalia is a viable destination for investment.”
