MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo said on Tuesday he had turned turned an offer of support for his re-election bid in return for reversing a decision to take Kenya to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over a maritime boundary dispute.
“We initiated maritime dispute with Kenya that was a hefty burden on me especially and was an uneasy pressure, whether political – in which there was initimidation that we were weak and more leverage was being maintained on us to rescind my decision on the maritime case – or economic,” Somali President said, speaking at a ceremony held to the mark the founding anniversary of Somalia’s army.
“I was being convoyed with offers of help in my re-election bid in return for dropping the maritime case.”
