MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is set to travel to the town of Baidoa amid an escalating rift between Southwest state leadership and regional opposition politicians, Caasimada Online news website reported on Tuesday.
It comes weeks after heavy fighting between troops loyal to regional President Abdiasis Laftagaren and opposition took place in Baidoa, leaving more than 10 people dead.
Somali parliament speaker Adan Mohamed Nur has recently arrived in Baidoa where he is scheduled to lead peace talks between Laftagaren and his opposition.
