MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The speaker of Somaliland parliament Abdirizak Khalif said on Sunday the separatist region’s leader Muse Bihi Abdi is behind “war crimes” committed during the conflict raging in the town of Lasanod.
The remarks came after local forces seeking a reunification with Somalia seized complete control of the contested town and entered a large military base on the road linking Garowe and Lasanod.
Khalif stressed that Somaliland President Muse Bihi shut down all prospects for a peaceful end to the conflict and ordered attacks by the regional army on residents, a move that left dozens of people dead and tens of thousands displaced.
Somaliland leader and his government have not yet commented on the accusation.
