MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somaliland and Puntland forces have begun renewed military buildup in a contested border area in Togdheer region on Monday, triggering fears of possible confrontations.
Somaliland army has deployed hundreds of fresh troops in the vicinity of the town of Buhodle in Togdheer region, seizing villages earlier controlled by Puntland authorities.
The separatist regional forces captured the town of Bo’ame weeks earlier, sparking anger in Puntland, whose authorities threatened to launch counter-offensive to retake the town.
