MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somaliland commissioner for Buhodle District in northern Somalia’s Togdher region on Sunday defected to SSC forces battling the break-away region’s troops in the town of Lasanod.
Nasteh Mohamed Abdile said he could no longer tolerate the “ethnic cleansing” campaign carried out by Somaliland troops against the residents of the war-hit town of Lasanod.
A number of regional officials, who come from the town, have joined the ranks of the local rebels over the past weeks despite calls for an immediate ceasefire by the Somali government and the international community.
