MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Heavy fighting between Somaliland troops and SSC forces erupted outside the northern Somali town of Lasanod on Sunday night amid calls for the parties to the conflict in Sool region to end the fighting through dialogue.
Residents reported hearing loud explosions and fierce exchange of gunfire overnight, but casualties have not been immediately known.
Somaliland authorities and local forces seeking a reunification with Somalia claimed victory, but there has been no independent confirmation of the assertions by the two sides.
