STOCKHOLM (Somaliguardian) – Sweden supported Somalia Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble’s efforts for a transparent election, its Minister for International Development Cooperation Matilda Ernkrans said on Tuesday amid escalating power struggle between the Horn of Africa country’s leaders.
“Sweden calls on Somali leaders to show restraint and de-escalate tensions. Political dialogue is the way forward,” she said. “A NCC [National Consultative Council] meeting needs to be held to bring the election process forward.”
The Swedish Minister added that he government would continue to support the efforts of Somali Prime Minister, who said on Monday that he had survived a coup attempt orchestrated by the President, to “achieve transparent election process”.
