Top US diplomat Victoria Nuland meets Somalia drought envoy in first visit to Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland on Monday meet Somalia’s drought envoy Abdirahman Abdishakur during her first visit to Mogadishu to discuss efforts to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to millions of Somalis affected by food and water shortages.

Today, I met the US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland in Mogadishu, who had arrived in Soomalia on a visit,” Somali drought envoy Abdirahman Abdishakur said.

The meeting, focused on drought relief efforts and food safety of drought-affected people, had in attendance of US envoy to Somalia Larry Andre, the head of USAID, deputy UN envoy for humanitarian affairs and the heads of WFP, UNICEF and FAO.”
