MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – At least 10 people were killed and 30 others wounded after truck bomb exploded at a security checkpoint in central Somalia’s Baladweyne town on Saturday.
Images circulated on social media showed a thick plume of smoke rising from the former headquarters of Horseed Beverages Industry, which has recently been home to regional security forces.
No one has immediately claimed responsibility, but Al-Shabaab often carries out similar attacks in south and central Somalia.
Baladweyne has been the epicenter of military and clan mobilizations against the Al-Qaeda affiliate. The group carried out similar truck bomb attacks over the past months killing dozens of people, including senior regional officials.
