MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – At least two soldiers wounded after two rival factions within Somalia’s northeastern semi-autonomous region of Puntland exchanged gunfire in regional capital on Monday amid standoff over ongoing voter registration.
The fighting came after US-trained regional special forces attempted to enter an area where the voter registration was set to begin in the regional capital of Garowe.
It comes months after clashes between regional forces left dozens of people dead in the commercial port city of Bosaso.
