MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The United States doubled bounties on the heads of three Al-Shabaab leaders, its ambassador to Somalia Larry Andre said on Monday, weeks after Somali president called for increased support to end the Al-Qaeda ally’s 15-year-long insurgency.
“Today, we announce the doubling of the reward offers for information leading to the capture of those leading Al-Shabaab … These include Ahmed Diriye, Mahad Karate and Jehad Mostafa,” US ambassador to Somalia told a press conference in Kenyan capital Nairobi.
“I join Marc Dillard (Deputy US ambassador to Kenya) in urging anyone with information about Al-Shabaab senior leaders or the financial networks to come forward and it is important that the information be as tiny as possible so that it is actionable.”
In a twitter post, US Rewards for Justice program said it was offering $10 million for information on each of the three Al-Shabaab leaders.
