MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The United States military has carried out fresh air strikes in central Somalia as part of efforts to support Somali army operations against Al-Shabaab insurgents in the central region of Hiran.
Air strikes targeted a rural area near the small village of Yasoman close to the town of Buloburte in Hiran region on Sunday night, but no casualties were reported.
In a statement, Somali government confirmed that troops conducted a security operation in the area under cover of US air support.
US Africa Command has not yet commented on the air raids it has carried out in Somalia over the past weeks. Earlier, at least 10 civilians were killed in one of the air strikes targeting a bus station in the town of Mubarak in the Lower Shabelle region.
