MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – US embassy in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu said security teams of Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and the President of Southwest State Abdiasis Laftagaren assaulted members of its security staff and threatened violence.
“Both the PM’s and Southwest State President’s security teams tried to push their way through the entrance, disregarding agreed upon security procedures. Staffers from both delegations demanded special treatment and escalated tensions,” US embassy said in a letter addressed to Somali Foreign Minister.
“We demand that the individuals involved be disciplined and that you take appropriate action to ensure that this dangerous behavior by Somali security personnel is not repeated.”
