WHO says employee killed in Somalia hotel attack

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The World Health Organization said on Saturday a member of its staff had been killed in an Al-Shabaab attack on a beachfront hotel in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Friday.

The Director of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom sent condolences to the family of the victim and condemned the attack.

Tedros said he was “heartbroken that we have lost a WHO staff member in the recent attack in Mogadishu”, adding: “we condemn all attacks on civilians and humanitarian workers.”
