MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s prime minister is heading off for his first trip across election constituencies, weeks after the Horn of Africa nation’s leaders to agreed to hold presidential vote in October.
In a video on his twitter account, the prime minister said he would visit all election constituencies across the country, including the towns of Barawe, Baidoa, Bosaso and Baladwayne.
He added that his tour is aimed to inspect efforts to beef up security in all of the election constituencies and hold meetings with local authorities, troops and elders in the 5 regional states.
In televised remarks shortly before ending a visit to the coastal town of Kismayo, the prime minister said Jubaland leader Ahmed Madobe will be responsible for “the elections in Kismayo and Garbaharey”. “Mr president you have to be committed to your responsibilities on the elections in those two constituencies,” he added, referring to the leader of the semi-autonomous region Ahmed Madobe.
The prime minister arrived in the town of Garbaharey on Saturday, where he was warmly welcomed by regional officials, politicians and some of the residents. H is expected to form a new administration that will facilitate the process in which MPs from the region would be selected.
