Somaliland President Arrives in Djibouti for Official State Visit

Somaliland

Somaliland president Muse Bihi Abdi has arrived in Djibouti on Wednesday for an official state visit to hold talks with his Djiboutian counterpart Ismael Omar Gele.

Mr Bihi has been received by Djibouti’s Minister of Water Resources Mohamed Awale after landing at the international airport in the capital of Djibouti.

Somaliland leader received an official invitation from Djibouti’s president Ismael Omar Gele, days after IGAD leaders – who had convened an extraordinary meeting in Djibouti – commended talks between the break-away state and Somalia’s federal government.

The motive of the president’s visit has not yet been disclosed, but it comes as Somaliland embarks on efforts aimed to establish formal relations with countries in Africa and beyond.
