KHARTOUM (Somaliguardian) – Sudan has set 4 new conditions for the resumption of talks with Ethiopia, South Sudanese president Salva Kiir’s advisor on security affairs said.
The official told Al-Sharq newspaper that the head of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan put forward 4 conditions during recent meeting in Khartoum.
Sudanese president’s advisor on security affairs Tut Qalwak noted that the conditions include the immediate withdrawal of Ethiopian forces and farmers from Sudanese lands, a return to 1902 border map and an agreement for marking that the management of the border area be in the interest of the Sudanese government.
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed called for withdrawal of Sudanese troops from the disputed border but Al-Burhan refused to do so, indicating that Sudan’s army had redeployed within its territory, Qalwak said, adding that the two leaders would visit Juba before a tripartite summit.
