Suicide Bombing in Somalia’s Capital Leaves 3 Dead, 8 Wounded

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A suicide bombing attack near a busy bus station in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu has left at least 3 people dead and more than 8 others wounded.

A man wearing an explosive vest blew himself up near Ex-control Afgoye junction targeting a convoy of security forces, witnesses said on Saturday.

The attack took place during a busy rush hour and a loud explosion has been heard throughout the neighborhoods of the capital, Mogadishu and subsequent gunfire opened by the targeted troops.

Among the dead were civilians, who were shopping as the blast occurred and a number of wounded people were rushed to hospitals in Mogadishu.

Police have reached the scene immediately after the assault and cordoned off the area to prevent further militant attacks. Traffic has also been briefly halted as rescue operation swung into action.

Security officials have not immediately commented on the bombing and no one has yet claimed responsibility.
