“We strongly condemn the latest reports of civilians killed in Wollega, Oromia on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, and in Metekel, Benishangul on March 31, 2021,” US embassy in Addis Ababa said in a statement on Friday.

“Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and the people of Ethiopia for the loss of precious life. We stand with the people of Ethiopia against these atrocities.”

Clashes between different ethnic groups have gripped Ethiopia since Abiy Ahmed’s government announced a military offensive against Tigray region’s former ruling party, the TPLF which is still fighting allied Ethiopian, Eritrean and Amhara forces in the country’s north.
