Somalia Becomes the Latest African Country to Confirm Novel Coronavirus

Mogadishu (Somaliguardian) –Somalia has become the latest African country to confirm coronavirus after Tanzania and Liberia reported their first cases of the virus on Monday.

Somali Minister of Health Fowsia Nour speaking to the State Television said that a citizen from one of the affected countries has tested positive, adding that the person was in isolation since arriving in Somalia.

The Minister also confirmed that other citizens from overseas countries are currently in isolation and will undergo test procedures put in place to prevent spread of the virus in the country.

Following the announcement of the Ministry of Health, the country also suspended all international flights beginning from March 18th.

Kenyan imported Khat drug will also be affected by the order which may drastically affect Kenyan economy. The order is excepting Humanitarian Flights, according to the minister of Aviation.
