Al-Shabaab Claims Killing 9 Somali Soldiers in a Suicide Bomb Attack in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Several people were killed in a suicide bomb attack near the Somali Parliament compound in Mogadishu, local authorities have confirmed.

Witnesses told Somaliguardian that a man wearing explosive vest blew himself up in an area where security forces had gathered.

The spokesman of Banadir regional administration Salah Omar Hassan said that a man wearing suicide belt detonated himself in a busy restaurant in Sayidka mini-market near the Somali Parliament compound.

“A suicide bomber blew himself up near Bulsho Bar in Holwadag district outside Sayidka MINI-MARKET. 6 people were wounded in the attack, four of them belong to one family, but 3 have later succumbed to injuries in a hospital.”

said the spokesman of Banadir regional administration.

Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying 9 government troops were killed with 24 others wounded.

“A martyrdom operation in which the Mujahideen have carried out outside the Somali Parliament headquarters resulted in the killing of 9 apostates and the wounding of 24 others”

reads a statement issued by Al-Shabaab
