KDF Soldiers Killed and Vehicles Destroyed in Series of Attacks in Northeastern Kenya, Militants Claim

NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – Soldiers were killed and military vehicles destroyed in a series of attacks targeting Kenyan army covoys in northeastern Kenya, Somalia-based armed group Al-Shabaab claimed on Saturday.

An explosion targeted KDF convoy in the vicinity of Mandera and Finnow towns, the militant group said via affiliated media.

Militants also ambushed Kenyan troops in two separate attacks between the towns of Raamo and Elwak, claiming to have killed a number of soldiers and destroying two military vehicles.

At least two soldiers were killed and 12 others wounded during fighting with suspected Al-Shabaab fighters in Bambo area in Mandera County. A militant was also killed in the exchange of gunfire which came following an attack on lorry carrying 20 soldiers, Kenyan newspaper The Star reported on Sunday.

Kenyan government has not immediately commented on the claims by the Al-Qaeda-affiliated group.
